Helical or Straight
Straight vs helical fletching is a trade-off between speed and stability. Straight fletching keeps vanes parallel to the shaft, creating minimal drag and no spin for faster, flatter flight, but it relies heavily on a perfect tune.
Helical fletching angles the vanes to induce spin, stabilising the arrow faster and improving forgiveness and broadhead flight. The downside is increased drag, slightly reduced speed, and more wind drift over distance.
Straight Fletching
Best for target shooting with field points, especially indoors or short range. Fast and flat, but offers very little correction, so it needs a well-tuned setup.2° Helical
Adds a small amount of spin with minimal speed loss. Great for target setups needing a bit more forgiveness than straight, often with smaller vanes.3° Helical
A solid all-rounder and common sweet spot. Balances speed and stability well, working across both target and hunting, including fixed blade broadheads.4° Helical
Maximum stability and control. Ideal for hunting with fixed or large broadheads, but with more drag, noise, and a slight drop in speed.
